Freshman sprinter Tristie Johnson finished 26th in the 200m preliminaries the USATF Senior Nationals, Saturday in Iowa.

The first B-CU athlete selected for the honor, Johnson will join the team of just 10 men and 10 women to represent the U.S. internationally, running July 9-10, at Central Stadium in Kazan, Russia in the 200m.

Sprinter Tristie Johnson put in the work to refine her race skills over the weekend at the 38th annual Northwest Track & Field Classic, earning victory in both the 100m and 200m races on Sunday afternoon.

"We had a great chance to get her to the next round but things just did not go our way," Head Coach Donald Cooper said of the 16th-place performance. "It was a great learning experience for her as a freshman."
